Uninsured Loss Recovery

Securing fair compensation for motor accidents and personal injury.

Uninsured losses are those which are not covered by your own insurance policy. They can include financial losses as well as those related to personal injury.

Every year in Scotland thousands of people are involved in accidents that were not their fault. They can happen at work, in a public place or could be a road traffic accident. Unfortunately, they can often result in expenses (uninsured losses), many of which can be recovered by claiming them from the other party and/or their insurance company. Our solicitors and expert support teams care passionately about our clients’ long term financial and health welfare. The first stage in any claim is to make you fully aware of what you can claim for and what evidence will be required in order to submit that claim.  We then work hard to apply the laws that are there to protect you and ensure you receive fair compensation. We understand the burden of financial loss and the problems associated with accidental injuries, so we focus on making the pursuit of a claim as simple as possible.  We do not charge a fee for recovery of uninsured loss.  We recover all our fees from the other side meaning you keep 100% of the compensation awarded.

Frequently Asked Questions

We put your needs at the heart of everything we do

What is Uninsured Loss Recovery (ULR) and when will it apply to me?

ULR relates to the recovery from third parties or their insurers of compensation and financial losses which are not covered by your own insurance policy or for accidents/incidents where there is no form of insurance cover in force.

What sort of uninsured losses might I suffer?

Under a comprehensive motor insurance policy, uninsured losses relate to the policy excess, replacement car hire charges and other expenses relating to a road traffic accident.  Under Third Party/Third Party Fire and Theft cover we would seek to recover full repair costs and any other losses.

I was injured in an accident. Can you assist or is this covered by my own policy?

We are specialist Personal Injury Solicitors.  Personal Injury is not covered even under a Comprehensive Policy.  We shall pursue the responsible driver.

How much will it cost me?

We do not charge you anything for the service provided.  The cost of medical/police reports are met by Clark Boyle.  We also have the facility to do searches of DVLA and the Motor Insurance Database.  All fees and expenses are met by the responsible Third Party or their insurer.

Are you only able to help if the incident takes place in Scotland?

No, we have reciprocal agreements with solicitors covering all parts of the UK.

Clark Boyle & Co were extremely professional from start to finish. We were on quite a tight schedule to complete our home purchase however Bev who we dealt with did everything she could to enable everything to go through on time. A+++ service. Thank you for everything.

My sister-in-law purchased a flat in Glasgow about a year ago. She used Clark Boyle for the conveyancing and was happy with the service provided. So, when we decided in November to buy a flat in Glasgow we thought we'd go with them too. It was a good decision; they were friendly, fast and efficient. We were especially impressed with our lawyer, a partner in the firm, who's local knowledge and keen negotiating skills impressed and indeed saved us a substantial sum of money and the deal was completed before Christmas - thanks Graham. We're happy to recommend Clark Boyle and we'd use them again in the future.

Anne Green, of Clark Boyle, made my house purchase effortless. I would use this firm again.

Thanks so much Irene, you have been fantastic all the way through, thanks for going above and beyond 🙂

Dear Elaine, Thank you so much for having dealt with the sale in such a professional manner.

Hi Teresa, I just wanted to say thanks so much for all of your assistance (and moral support!!) over the last few months, it’s been a long process but you definitely made less stressful. Your assistance is very much appreciated by us both.

Hi Irene, Thanks very much. A big thanks as well for all the help you have provided. I honestly wish you were involved in all the other buying/selling transactions we’ve been involved in over the last 6 months to get to this stage. You have simply been absolutely amazing to deal with. You have explained the process at all stages and answered all questions quickly and efficiently. You have provided all the guidance and help we have needed while keeping a professional but extremely friendly (and welcomed!!!) attitude. Again, a massive thanks from Gillian and I for all you have done. I wish you all the best in your future.

Dear Susan, Please accept my thanks for your professionalism and perseverance in finally and successfully concluding the sale of my mothers' property today. This despite the intransigence, unreasonable demands and apparent inability of the purchasing client solicitor to properly communicate or engage with you throughout the whole selling process.
